One of the most common questions we get in the shop is how to successfully weaning a baby from breat or bottle onto a cup. It seems that every single mum has bought virtually every cup or beaker on the market; non-spill, free flow, hard spout, soft spout or no spout it feels like all of them are lacking something.
For what its worth, we usually advise a two stage approach - use a doidy cup for the very first sips of water or milk and then for independent drinking or for taking a drink out and about we feel you can do no better than a thermos fliptop beaker.
The doidy cup has been around for a long time now but its clever sloping design makes it very easy for babies to judge where the surface of their drink is and so helps them to decide how much to tip and reduces spill. A word of warning though - Doidy cups are definately not a no-spill cup!

Second hand washable nappies - now in store
Our baby shop in tavistock has always been a bit of a treasure trove of those practical little things that you need when you have children. Everything from lilypadz (Mrs T's favourite reusable breast pad), baby food (all organic natch!), real nappies, feeding accessories and books on all subjects from pregnancy to sleep problems, to baby food recipes and cooking for kids.
Over the last year we have been working hard to expand the second hand baby clothes and toys selection in the shop. If you live near us in Tavistock you can sell all your baby and childrens clothes and toys through us (we take a commission on the final sale price) but we do love the second hand nappy section. We are always looking for used motherease, tots bots and other good quality cloth nappies. Don't forget we also sell new nappies both on the nappy rush website and from our shop.
Highlights of our current second hand stock include a great graco double buggy, lots of motherease wraps in various sizes, imse vimse nappies, a couple of lovely genuine paul smith dresses (age 4-5). Grobags in various sizes are always coming into the store (and going out again).
For the time being, if you are not within striking distance of our shop in Tavistock, I suggest phoning or emailing to see if we have you specific requirements in stock. I'm investigating the best way to put used items onto the website so watch this space and soon you may be able to take your pick of fantastic second hand baby clothes and accessories from the comfort of your own home.
